Passion, Expertise, and a Commitment to Change
Hi, I’m Cheryl Smith, CEO and Founder of Dewlyn Nonprofit Services. For over 25 years, I’ve been driven by a deep passion to empower people and build stronger communities through nonprofit work. My journey began in Michigan, where I grew up alongside foster siblings and worked in my mother’s family daycare. It was there that I learned the value of investing in others and creating opportunities for growth—lessons that continue to shape my mission today.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of serving in roles ranging from counselor to CEO, helping organizations overcome challenges and thrive. At Dewlyn, I bring this experience to every client, offering grant writing, training, and tailored strategies to help nonprofits secure funding, grow sustainably, and amplify their impact.
In addition, as a national trainer, I have the honor of providing nonprofit workshops for universities, financial institutions, faith-based organizations, nonprofit associations, and SCORE.org chapters across the country. Last year alone, more than 8,000 nonprofit and small business leaders received my guidance for establishing and scaling their charitable efforts, and I’d love to work with you too!

Rita is a skilled grant writer and researcher who brings care to her work. She has a sharp eye for funding opportunities that truly match an organization’s goals, and she makes the process less overwhelming by breaking down requirements and deadlines into clear next steps.
Grant-Writer and Client Success Coordinator
Jenny provides grant-writing and submission services. She ensures clients of Dewlyn Nonprofit Services receive top-notch support and timely responses. Jenny also manages social media, fostering connections and sharing insights to help nonprofits thrive.

AI Personal Assistant
Grace supports our CEO, Cheryl Smith. She sends meeting reminders so clients have the date, time and joining details the evening before. She also prepares Cheryl for each meeting and keeps follow-up moving. Grace helps Cheryl give each client her full attention.
AI Client Success Coordinator
Bre responds to support@dewlyn.com emails and welcomes new clients, confirms appointments, acknowledges questionnaires and answers general questions about our services. Bre receives oversight from our Client Success Manager. If your question needs a person, Bre makes sure you reach one.
AI Grant Researcher
Ian researches grant opportunities for company and for our clients. Each week he reviews funders and confirms their application deadlines directly from the funder’s website. His research keeps our grant listings current and accurate. Ian receives oversight from our CEO, Cheryl Smith.
