What is the Standard Grant-Writing Service?
This service prepares your nonprofit to apply for funding by creating a professional grant proposal package tailored to your mission. We also help you refine your organization’s processes, build partnerships, and equip your team with tools for future success.
What is the cost for this service?
The service starts at $2,400 for domestic proposals. A deposit of $600 is required, and payment plans are available. International grant proposals are $3,600, with an $800 deposit.
What’s included in the Standard Grant Proposal?
Your customized proposal includes program narratives, goals and objectives, a sustainability plan, evaluation plans, detailed budgets, letters of inquiry, sponsorship requests, and a curated list of funders aligned with your mission.
What types of organizations can benefit from this service?
This service is ideal for small to mid-size nonprofits that are looking to become grant-ready or need a polished proposal to apply for funding opportunities.
Do you have expertise in my nonprofit’s specific category?
Cheryl Smith has a wealth of experience working with a wide range of nonprofit categories (e.g. veterans, homelessness, youth, animal rescue, arts & culture, etc.). IMPORTANT: While every organization has unique goals and challenges, the process of preparing for and securing funding is fundamentally the same. Cheryl’s expertise lies in understanding what funders are looking for and tailoring proposals to highlight your organization’s strengths and impact—regardless of the specific mission area.
How long does the process take?
Once we have our initial project development meeting, the Standard Grant-Writing service can be completed in as few as 2 to 4 weeks, depending on your organization’s readiness and needs.
How many times do we meet during the process?
We offer 3 standard meetings for Standard grant-writing. There is an initial meeting to develop your proposal direction and gather information; there is a meeting to review your proposal draft; and there is a meeting to close-out proposal writing. The purpose of the close-out meeting is to review the work that we have completed for you, and to train you and/or your team on how to properly use the documents that we have created.
Where are meetings held?
Meetings are held on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursdays – via Zoom. 🙂
Can I invite my Board or volunteers to the meeting?
Yes. Absolutely!
Can the proposal be used to apply for federal grants?
The proposals we prepare are tailored for private foundation funding, which typically involves different requirements than federal grants. While some content, like program narratives and budgets, can be adapted for federal applications, federal grants usually require answering a specific set of questions unique to each funding opportunity. Federal grant applications are also more detailed and time-intensive. If you’re pursuing federal funding, we recommend a separate service to meet those specific requirements.
What happens after grant-writing services are completed?
It is our sincere hope that you will begin applying for grant funding immediately. You’ll receive free access to our pre-recorded webinars for grant-writing, along with a detailed instruction guide to help you pursue funding independently. If you need additional support, you can schedule a private consultation or hire us for grant submissions. There will be an additional fee for this add-on support, however, this ensures you will have the assistance you need – while allowing me to continue helping other nonprofits effectively.
Does Standard Grant-Writing Include Grant Submissions?
No. The Standard Grant-Writing service positions your organization for grant funding through a very comprehensive process that involves project development, consultation, the development of your grant-proposal, document preparation, the identification of mission-aligned funders, and team training.
For grant application submissions, please consider our service for this. Information can be found on this page.
Do you pay referral fees?
Yes! Most of our business comes from referrals. We show our gratitude by offering $100 for grant-writing referrals. This fee is paid once grant-writing has been paid in full by the individual or organization referred.
Your questions answered
Grant Application Submissions
What is the Grant Submission service?
This service assists nonprofits in submitting grant applications accurately and on time. It’s perfect for organizations that have completed the Standard Grant-Writing service or are ready to apply for specific grants.
Does this service include finding funding opportunities?
No, grant lists are not included. However, we can curate a list of funders aligned with your mission and goals. There is an additional fee for this service.
- Domestic nonprofits: A list of 10 mission-aligned private foundations is $125.
- International nonprofits: A list of 5 mission-aligned private foundations is $250.
- Government grants: A list of 3 mission-aligned funding opportunities is $250.
To summarize, if you are interested in this service and you have already identified the grants that you’d like us to apply for, simply forward us your list and we will provide you a quote for each submission.
If you do not have a prepared list (of potential funders), we can curate a list for you for an additional cost.
What’s included in the submission process?
Submitting an application for funding varies based on the funder. Some funders prefer organizations to register with their online platforms, while others do not.
We engage in grant submissions by reading funder guidelines for submission, then following those guidelines. If your organization is required to register in order to submit an application, we will register your organization on the funder’s online platform. We will then prepare and submit all required forms and documents, and track submissions to ensure funders receive everything they need to make an informed decision.
If funders contact you, requesting additional information within 24 hours of grant-submission, we will provide the information requested – as long as you have the information that is being requested. We can also develop additional documents and forms for you (for an additional fee). For example, if the funder request strategic plans, succession plans, or policies that are generally not apart of grant-writing, we can work with you to produce these documents so that you increase your opportunity for funding.
How much does this service cost?
The cost typically ranges from $90 to $500 per grant application, depending on its complexity. For example, some applications can be submitted in under an hour, while others may take several hours to complete. Government, international, and six-figure grants that take more than a day to complete are an additional fee.
Note: We will always provide a quote for potential grant submissions prior to engaging in the work. This allows you time to decide which grants you would like us to submit based on your interest and budget.
Can I purchase this service if I haven’t used the Standard Grant-Writing service?
Yes, but your organization should have a complete and ready-to-use grant proposal. Your proposal should include a program and organizational budget, board list, partners list, statement of past contributions, and implementation plan. If not, we recommend starting with the Standard Grant-Writing service.
How long does it take to submit a grant application?
Timelines vary depending on the grant’s requirements and the funder’s deadlines. During your consultation, we’ll provide an estimated timeline.
