What is a strategic plan?

Every nonprofit needs a roadmap.

A strategic plan is a written document that sets your nonprofit’s priorities, goals and objectives for the next three years. It names the work to be done, who is responsible, when it happens and how you will measure progress.

Without a clear plan, even the most passionate mission can lose its way. A strong strategic plan provides clarity, aligns your team, and ensures every action moves your mission forward.

Why your nonprofit needs a strategic plan

  • It defines your goals and priorities, so your efforts are never wasted.
  • It helps align your team and stakeholders around a shared vision.
  • It turns big-picture dreams into actionable, achievable steps.
  • It positions you to secure funding by demonstrating focus and sustainability.
Two ways to work with Cheryl

Choose a coach or a writer.

If your team wants hands-on guidance while it writes the plan, choose coaching. If you want a completed plan without drafting it yourself, choose Strategic Plan Development.
